Before a vehicle earns the Certified Pre-Owned title, it goes through a rigorous set of tests design to find even the most miniscule problems. When a car is under consideration for the Certified Pre-Owned program, the Hyundai dealer checks the CarFax Vehicle History Report for any problems. The dealership checks the vehicle's service history, damages, repairs, and title. If everything checks out, the car is turned over to the Hyundai-trained technicians for an absolutely brutal evaluation.

The technicians then put the car through a rigorous 173-point inspection that covers every aspect of the car. No detail is spared and each and every corner is thoroughly examined for defects, damage, or mechanical problems. Any problem, no matter how insignificant, is repaired or replaced with Hyundai-manufactured parts.

The first step of the 173-point inspection is the test drive, which covers 16 points. The technician examines the car for any noises and squeaks while testing throttle, speed, and shifting. If all goes well, the exterior, with 31 points, is up next. When examining the exterior, the technician will look at the paint and body, windshield and windows, wheels, tires, locks, and more.

Once a car passed the exterior examination, the technician moves onto the interior, with 57 points. There, the seat belts, steering wheel, audio and navigation system, alarm system, air conditioning, and much more goes under thorough testing.

Things get more complicated when it comes to the mechanical inspection's 37 points. The mechanic tests the exhaust, battery, radiator, and emissions. Next, the technician checks for any recalls and tests the warning lights.

Finally, the car's tires and wheels take the limelight. The technician will finish the inspection with the final eight points, comprising of the brakes, tires, and wheels.
