2019 Veloster Safety Earns It IIHS Top Safety Pick Award

2019 Hyundai Veloster

The 2019 Veloster recently garnered a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The IIHS cited the Veloster’s standard and available front crash prevention systems as primary reasons for the award.  Though this honor is challenging for any automaker to achieve, the Veloster marks the brand’s 11th model to win this recognition.

The award

To secure Top Safety Pick status, a car must successfully pass a gauntlet of tests. It must secure “good” ratings for the following five crash tests: head restraint, roof strength, side, driver-side small overlap front, and moderate overlap front. Secondly, it must score “good” or “acceptable” for headlights and in the passenger-side small overlap test. Thirdly, it must get an “advanced” or “superior” rating when it comes to front crash prevention.

Hyundai’s reputation for superior safety

Scott Margason, Hyundai Motor America’s director of product planning, expressed pride in the Veloster hatchback’s accolade. “The Veloster is a prime example of a sleek and exhilarating vehicle to sit behind the wheel of, while still offering the advanced safety features available across our Hyundai lineup.” He also stated that passenger safety is one of the brand’s top priorities for each model — a legacy which the Veloster hatchback is proud to promote.

Take advantage of the 2019 Veloster safety and reliability when you stop by Evansville Hyundai to take it for a test drive.
