Saving Lives and Spreading Hope: Hyundai Hope on Wheels

Hyundai Hope on Wheels is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary. The program has been helping to save lives and create hope in the fight against pediatric cancer, and the Hyundai brand hopes to expand its philanthropic efforts as much as possible in the near future. There are more than 100 types of childhood cancer, so it’s important to get the word out about this disease.

According to the organization website, Hope on Wheels has two main goals: to raise money for funding and treatment and to spread hope. By the end of 2017, the organization will have raised more than $130 million to go to research institutes around the country. A child will be diagnosed with pediatric cancer about once every 36 minutes, and, unfortunately, about one in five will not survive. More than 80 percent of pediatric cancers can be cured—something not even possible a few decades ago—in large part due to expanded research.

“Kids are the future and they deserve every opportunity to grow, play and learn in a world free of pediatric cancer,” reads the organization website. “Pediatric cancer is the leading disease related cause of death for US children. At HHOW, our goal is to fund pediatric cancer research, to drive innovative research and to create new discoveries that increase the survival rates of the disease.”
